Beatmania Append Gottamix
¥900
beatmania APPEND GOTTAMIX is a rhythm game developed and published by Konami. The game was released in Japan for PlayStation on May 27, 1999. It is part of the beatmania series and serves as an expansion disc for the original PlayStation beatmania titles.
In addition, the game introduces a large selection of new songs created specifically for the home console version. However, it requires a Key Disc from another beatmania PlayStation game to access the full content.
Story
The game does not include a traditional narrative. Instead, it focuses on rhythm gameplay where players perform music tracks using DJ-style controls.
Players take the role of a DJ and perform songs by pressing keys and scratching the turntable in time with the music. As a result, the goal is to achieve high scores and maintain the rhythm during each track.
Gameplay
beatmania APPEND GOTTAMIX is a rhythm game where players match notes to music.
Notes fall toward the bottom of the screen, and players must press the correct buttons or spin the turntable at the right time. Accurate timing increases the score and maintains the groove gauge.
The gameplay engine is based on beatmania 3rdMIX, although the combo counter is not displayed during play.
The game features a total of around twenty songs. Many of these tracks were new compositions created for the PlayStation version.
Modes
The game includes standard beatmania gameplay modes where players select songs and perform them for high scores.
Players can also access additional play options and modifiers through special input commands before starting the game. These options allow features such as double play or hidden notes.
Because the title is an append disc, players must load a compatible beatmania Key Disc first and then switch discs using the in-game disc change feature.
Presentation
beatmania APPEND GOTTAMIX features the same DJ-inspired interface used throughout the beatmania series.
The soundtrack includes music from several electronic genres such as trance, hip-hop, R&B, garage, and techno. These tracks highlight the club music style that defines the series.
Legacy
beatmania APPEND GOTTAMIX expanded the PlayStation beatmania lineup with new music and additional gameplay options.
The game contributed to the growth of the beatmania series and the broader BEMANI rhythm game franchise, which later inspired titles such as Beatmania IIDX and other music games from Konami.
