Dancing Stage Featuring True Kiss Destination
¥1,200
Dancing Stage featuring TRUE KiSS DESTiNATiON is a rhythm game developed and published by Konami. The PlayStation version was released in Japan on December 9, 1999. It is part of the Dance Dance Revolution series and the first title in the Dancing Stage subseries.
The game focuses on music from the Japanese pop group TRUE KiSS DESTiNATiON. In addition, it includes several original tracks produced by Konami’s in-house composers.
Story
The game does not include a traditional narrative.
Instead, players participate in rhythm dance performances by following musical patterns on screen. The objective is to complete songs with accurate timing while maintaining the rhythm.
As a result, players progress by clearing songs and improving their performance scores.
Gameplay
Dancing Stage featuring TRUE KiSS DESTiNATiON follows the gameplay style established by Dance Dance Revolution.
Arrows scroll upward on the screen, and players must step on the corresponding directions on a dance pad when they reach the target area. Accurate timing increases the score and helps maintain the life gauge.
If players miss too many steps, the life gauge decreases and the stage may end early.
The game also introduced several gameplay options such as speed modifiers, mirror mode, and hidden arrows. These options allow players to adjust the difficulty and style of play.
Modes
The PlayStation version includes several gameplay modes.
Arcade Mode recreates the structure of the arcade version. Players select songs and attempt to complete them in sequence.
Event Mode allows continuous play without the limitations of the arcade format. In addition, Free Dance Mode lets players choose songs freely for practice or exercise.
The game also includes training and edit features where players can practice step patterns and create custom dance sequences saved to a memory card.
Presentation
The game features colorful menus and animated backgrounds typical of the Dance Dance Revolution series.
Most songs in the soundtrack come from the Japanese music group TRUE KiSS DESTiNATiON. In addition, the game includes several original tracks composed by Konami artists.
This music selection gives the game a strong J-Pop identity compared to other entries in the series.
Legacy
Dancing Stage featuring TRUE KiSS DESTiNATiON became the first title in the Dancing Stage series in Japan.
The game also experimented with new features such as speed modifiers and menu-based gameplay options. As a result, these features later appeared in other Dance Dance Revolution releases.
