Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Games. The PlayStation 3 version was released in Japan on February 5, 2015.

This edition is an expanded version of the original Dark Souls II released in 2014. It includes the base game together with the three downloadable expansions known as The Lost Crowns trilogy, adding new areas, bosses, and equipment to the adventure.

Story

The story takes place in the ruined kingdom of Drangleic.

The player controls an undead traveler searching for a cure to a mysterious curse that causes humans to lose their sanity. During the journey, the hero explores ancient ruins, castles, and forgotten lands while uncovering the fate of the kingdom.

However, the expansion content introduces additional regions connected to powerful ancient kings. These areas reveal new fragments of the world’s history and the spreading influence of the Abyss.

Gameplay

Dark Souls II uses third-person action RPG gameplay focused on challenging combat and exploration.

Players fight enemies using swords, shields, bows, and magic abilities. Combat requires careful timing, stamina management, and observation of enemy attack patterns.

Souls collected from defeated enemies act as both experience points and currency. Players use them to level up abilities, purchase equipment, and upgrade weapons.
