Refund Policy – JapanHippo

Refund Eligibility
Refunds are only considered in the following case:

  • The customer receives an incorrect product due to an error on the part of JapanHippo.

Products with visible damage caused by postal handling, or normal wear and tear, are not eligible for a refund, as JapanHippo takes all reasonable measures to package products properly but cannot be held responsible for mishandling by the shipping service.

Refund requests must be submitted within 15 days of receipt of the product and are subject to prior review and approval by JapanHippo.


Refund Process
To request a refund, customers must:

  1. Send an email to diemuosa90@gmail.com with the subject line: [Refund Request].
  2. Provide complete information, including:
    • Order number
    • Product received
    • Product expected
    • Description of the problem
    • Photos or other evidence to support the claim

Additional information may be requested if necessary to process the refund. All personal data submitted will be used exclusively to manage the refund request and handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, in compliance with Japanese data protection regulations.


Return Shipping

  • For approved refunds due to seller error (incorrect product), return shipping costs may be reimbursed at the discretion of JapanHippo.
  • For all other cases, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs.

Inspection & Approval
JapanHippo reserves the right to inspect the submitted evidence before approving any refund.

“If sufficient evidence (e.g., photos) is not provided, JapanHippo reserves the right to deny the refund request.”

Refunds may be denied if the information provided is insufficient to verify the claim.


Refund Method & Timing

  • Refunds are issued using the same payment method used for the original purchase whenever possible.
  • Refunds are typically processed within 7 business days after approval, excluding weekends and national holidays.
  • JapanHippo is not responsible for delays caused by banks, payment processors, or other third-party services.
  • Refunds are issued in Japanese Yen (JPY) by default, but may be processed in Euros (EUR) at JapanHippo’s discretion.

  • This Refund Policy works in conjunction with our Shipping & Return Policy and Terms & Conditions, which also govern the sale of products on this website.

Returns are accepted only in cases where an incorrect item was sent due to an error on our part. Products that are sealed or unopened are not eligible for return under any circumstances. Differences in condition, appearance, or quality perceived by the customer compared to product images do not qualify for returns, as all items are sold based on the information and images provided at the time of purchase.

Refund Eligibility Conditions

All refund requests are subject to prior review and approval by our staff. Each request will be evaluated to confirm that the return meets the applicable conditions and that an error occurred on our part before any refund is authorized. Approved refunds will be issued in Japanese yen (JPY). Any currency exchange rates, conversion fees, or charges applied by banks or payment providers are not the responsibility of our store.
