Shipping and Return

Parcel Dispatch

All orders are shipped from Japan. The shipping time refers to the period from when the order is received until it is dispatched, which is typically within 24 to 48 hours, excluding weekends and national holidays.

To minimize shipping costs, we recommend purchasing all items in one single order. Please note that once an order is completed, separate orders cannot be merged.

Shipping Method

We offer several shipping methods, including Standard Mail, Registered Mail, EMS Mail and Surface. All shipments are carried out at the buyer’s sole risk. Once the order has been dispatched, we shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, delay, misdelivery, or other incidents caused by or arising from the postal service or shipping carrier. Any claims related to shipping issues must be addressed directly with the corresponding carrier.

  • Standard Mail: Standard Mail is the most economical air shipping method available. This service does not include tracking, insurance, or any form of shipment protection. Once the order has been dispatched, it cannot be tracked or located, and its whereabouts cannot be determined at any time.
  • Registered Mail: Registered Mail is a more expensive air shipping method than Standard Mail. This service includes a tracking number; however, it does not include insurance or any form of shipment coverage.
  • EMS Mail: EMS Mail is the most expensive shipping option, but it is also the fastest. It includes a tracking number, and for small shipments it is often even cheaper than Certified Mail.
  • Surface: Sea Shipping is the most economical shipping method available; however, it is also the slowest. Delivery times may be significantly longer than other methods and can take up to three (3) months or more in some cases. This service includes tracking information but does not include insurance or any form of shipment coverage.

Please note that the shipping service is independent from JapanHippo. Once the package has been handed over to the postal service, the delivery process is entirely under the carrier’s responsibility. JapanHippo cannot monitor, trace, or retrieve shipments, and we are not responsible for delays, damages, loss, or issues that may occur during transit. Any tracking information provided is managed by the postal service, and JapanHippo has no control over its accuracy or updates.

Any customs duties, taxes, or import fees imposed by the destination country are the responsibility of the customer. JapanHippo is not liable for any such charges or delays caused by customs inspections.

**Due to the current tariffs and customs costs affecting shipments to the United States, orders to this country are temporarily suspended until the situation improves.**

Return

All products sold on this website are offered as second-hand goods. As such, returns are generally not accepted. We take all reasonable measures to ensure that products are properly packed and dispatched in the best possible condition. However, once an order has been shipped, we cannot be held responsible for any handling, damage, or issues arising from the postal or shipping service.

Products marked as “Sealed,” as well as any items sold unopened, cannot be returned under any circumstances. This policy exists to prevent potential product substitution, tampering, or manipulation after delivery.

The only exception applies to items specifically described as “Tested” or “Working.” If such an item is received and is confirmed to be non-functional upon arrival, the customer may request a return. In these cases, JapanHippo will cover the reasonable costs required to return the item.

However, JapanHippo cannot be held responsible for damages caused during shipping, transport, or customs inspections and handling. If the malfunction is determined to be the result of shipping damage or external handling after dispatch, the return may not be accepted.

Effects of Retraction

Once an order has been placed and successfully registered in our system, it immediately enters the preparation phase. During this stage, our company begins the operational, administrative, and handling processes required to prepare the order for shipment.

Because we aim to dispatch orders as quickly as possible—usually within the first 24 hours after payment, excluding weekends and national holidays—customers may request a cancellation within a reasonable period of time after completing the payment. As a general rule, cancellation requests must be submitted within approximately 12 hours after the order has been placed.

However, due to the speed of our dispatch process, it is possible that an order may be shipped before a cancellation request is received or processed. In such cases, cancellation may no longer be possible. Additionally, once our staff has left with the prepared shipments to deliver them to the postal or shipping center, any cancellation request received at that moment may not be accepted.
