Pokémon Ruby is a role‑playing game (RPG) developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. It released in Japan on November 21, 2002 as part of the third generation of the main Pokémon series. This version offers its own exclusive Pokémon and story events.

Story and Setting
The game takes place in the Hoenn region, a land of islands, mountains, forests, and sea routes. Players begin as a young Trainer who chooses a starter Pokémon and sets out to challenge eight Gym Leaders. The main quest is to defeat the Elite Four and become the Hoenn League Champion while completing the Pokédex. In Ruby, the antagonists Team Magma seek to awaken the legendary Pokémon Groudon to expand the land, creating conflict the player must resolve.

Gameplay
